State Key Laboratory of Tribology (SKLT) hosted its second session of 6th Academic Committee and 3rd Advisory Committee on Oct 18, 2015 at Tsinghua University. 27 committee members including Academicians Ren Luquan, Xiong Youlun, Wen Shizhu, Guo Dongming, Luo Jianbin and Prof. Jacob Klein from Weizmann Institute of Science attended this meeting. Presenting on the meeting were also Mr. Fu Xiaofeng from Ministry of Science and Technology of China, Mr. Deng Ning and Ms Ding Fan, both from the Office of Scientific R & D, Tsinghua University.
Mr. Fu and Mr. Deng delivered opening remarks for the meeting. Academician Wen Shizhu overviewed the SKLT’s major historical progress and provided constructive advice for the future development. The winners Wang Aidao, Professor of Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Ma Liran, Associate Professor of SKLT, Tsinghua University, were announced for the 4th Wen Shizhu Maple Leaf Award and were presented the certificates and bonus by Academician Wen.
On behalf of SKLT, Director Meng Yonggang delivered work report to the committee members. Prof. Meng summarized the major progress made in the last year, pointed out the challenges and outlined the major tasks for the future development. Prof. Lu Xinchun presented the latest research on chemical mechanical polishing apparatus and process development, Associate Professor He Yongyong reported on construction and development plan on Tianjin Research Institute for Advanced Equipment, Tsinghua University, and Associate Professor Ma Liran gave presentation on online-interface femtosecond spectroscopy detection system for the friction energy dissipation measurement.
Associate Professor Liu Dameng, Secretary of the Academic Committee, briefed the attendees about the annual SKLT’s Open Fund executive summary. The members examined and approved the 2015 grant proposal and made constructive comments on the open funding management. Meanwhile, under the theme of the SKLT development, the members mentioned the satisfactory results and achievements of SKLT during the past year and provided recommendations on enriching disciplinary research, attracting talent and enhancing international cooperation.
The significance of this meeting offers important guidance at comprehensive scope of SKLT services.
